Testimonials
"I just love everyone at Christian Social Services. They are the kindest people that I have ever met. When I was sick last year, I just went there to feel better. I think all the people who work and volunteer there are sweethearts. I am glad they are there, and I am thankful for all that they do."

I am a resident of Rowan County, and have, on occasion, had to seek help from Christian Social Services. We all hit hard spots in the road of life and at some time or another, we need help to make it past that spot. On one occasion, I came to CSS to seek help with my electric bill. Due to circumstances beyond my control, it was about to be disconnected. I have to tell you, I was met with the compassion and hospitality that I so appreciated. No one likes to ask for help, but when we do, it is so nice to know that there are nice, kind people in this world who do not judge you. The staff was able to give me enough assistance to help me keep my electric on. I truly do not know what would have happened if CSS wasn't there to help me. I am so appreciative of them and all that they do.
On another occasion, I again went to CSS to seek help because I was at the end of my money and there was no food. Again, the staff was very polite and nonjudgmental and helped me with my situation. I was given enough food to last me and my family until my next pay day. My husband and I work every day, but sometimes our paychecks just do not spread far enough to pay what we need to pay and still be able to feed our family. I am grateful that there is a place we can go to in time of need that is willing to help.
I just can't say enough about the professionalism and compassion shown by the CSS staff. I know that when I HAVE to ask for help, that it will be kept private, and I don't have to worry about being embarrassed. If I am ever in the position to be able to give back, I can guarantee you that CSS would be the first place that I would send my donations. They help so many people with food, clothing, and utility assistance. Thank you Christian Social Services for all that you do for so many.

I was working as an RN in Ashland when I developed a blood clot in my lungs. This prevented me from working for over 6 months. I had not been employed long enough for benefits. All of my bills were adding up. A friend told me about CSS. They helped me keep my electric bill from being disconnected. Food was given to me, as well, which helped me get through until I was eligible for food stamps. During this hard time financially, the help CSS provided was such a relief just to know that there was a place that I could go to get the help that I needed. I was treated with such respect and have referred others to Christian Social Services based on my experiences with them.

This past summer, I was lucky enough to get help from a mission group that comes to Christian Social Services each year. They are from St. Denis Parish in Versailles, OH. I have to say right up front that I fell in love with them. They were the most wonderful people that I have ever met. They met my needs beyond expectations. They painted my back porch, a building, a fence, and the brick under my house. Also, they mowed my yard, trimmed my trees, and built me a handicap ramp. Words cannot express how they made me feel. I am so appreciative. I thanked God for sending them to me. I was so touched by this group, I wanted to thank them in the only way that I was able to do. So, I made a quilt before they left that week and sent it with them to be raffled off to raise funds for their youth group. It's my hope that they used the funds to help others, like myself, who are in need.
